About me

I turned to photography around five years ago as a means to re-discover a creative and more meaningful path. With an art school training I’ve spent an entire career as a picture framer, absorbing and being emmersed by the wonderful artwork of many talented artists. These influences and experiences are always present in my work and now, I am comfortable with my own visual language, artistic voice and unique perspective of the world.

Although only coming to photography just a short time ago, the images I make are often the realisation of feelings, ideas and compositions that have slowly formed at the back of mind for many years, sometimes decades. Through photography, I now have the means to release these images and to me they often feel like being reacquainted with an old friend.

I grew up in Cornwall and received my artistic training at the Falmouth School of Art before moving to London to attend Central St. Martins and the Royal College of Art. After graduating, I spent a couple of years supplying the Conran Shop in London and Paris with my porcelain and glass flower holder pieces. I exhibited my ceramic and glass designs at various places including the London South Bank, Thomas Goode and Aram designs. During this period I also started picture framing and eventually with my wife Clare, set up our own picture framing company, specialising in high-end gallery and museum framing.

These days I am happiest in nature and I can regularly be found in what I call “my new office”, walking the coastline, downlands and woodlands of Sussex. Carrying just my trusted Fujifilm X-T4 camera, a small backpack containing a few choice lenses and of course, the essential flask of coffee…
