Poetry Collaboration

Poetry by Brittany @moonlightandhyssop

I recently asked a very talented writer friend of mine, to view my completed “Exposed” images and react to them in any way that came to mind. I can’t begin to express how delighted I am with the results. Four beautiful poems that resonate perfectly with the images for which they were each intended. My heartfelt thanks to Brittany for her time and for producing something I will always cherish.

Hawthorns

Windswept hour,

Life drowning in a haze of longing,

I ache for an extension -

Not of all my moments.

Just my favorite one:

This one breath I shared with you.

Eternally inhaling until I feel dizzy

And my chest explodes.

I can't release this breath.

Tidal Edge

Being,

so much like a wall.

A creation, a nature,

naturally formed as a fortress.

Standing alone and aloft, but really,

You aren't standing at all.

You are

slipping, invisibly

crumbling, constantly.

Your fragile face

facing the elements suited to

wear you away.

Your bare heart watching the water...

beautiful, soft.

Being so much like a wall.

Bloom

I used to say,

"Bury me at sea"

or in some sweet, far-flung

paradise.

Now,

just let me rest

in that place where I held your hand

in that moment when birds sang at night.

Rest -

beneath the yellow flowers

we loved too much

to pick.

Inheritance

Happiness is your shadow.

Shelter me forever.

You watched over me before I knew you -

Let me watch you, too.

Am I too small to save you?

I sensed that you were not

Forever.

Healed within your quiet strength,

my only lingering fear

is your impermanence.
